Another important activity of EUROSTANDARD CZ is cooperation with INSTITUTE FOR IONIZING RADIATION (IIR), which is a specialised department of CZECH METEOROLICAL INSTITUTE (CMI) for the processes of measuring and calibration of radioactivity and ionizing radiation, production of standards for calibration and verification of devices for radioactivity and ionizing radiation measuring.
The Czech Metrology Institute established a different method of presenting uncertainty of its calibrated sources in order to unite with the industry standard in this field. Instead of percentage representation used in the past, from 2018 the uncertainty will be expressed according to the recommendation JCGM 100:2008 „Evaluation of measurement data – Guide to the expression of uncertainty in measurement" For a representative example, please see the attached file.
Sometimes things do not go exactly according to the plan but there is a pro to every con and as a result, there is an opportunity to acquire these sources directly from stock. The most common culprit is that the nominal activity is outside the usual -10/+30% acceptance range which can be a dealbreaker for some clients. The uncertainties are still as intended, unless mentioned otherwise.
